AMD Radeon RX 9050 8GB
The AMD Radeon RX 9050 8GB brings RDNA 4 features to the entry-level graphics market, combining 8GB of GDDR6 memory with relatively low power consumption. Released in July 2026 in selected regions, it targets 1080p gaming rather than demanding 1440p workloads.
RX 9050 gaming performance at 1080p
The GPU features 16 compute units and 1,024 stream processors, with a maximum reference boost clock of 2,600MHz. Although it supports modern RDNA 4 technologies, its reduced processing resources limit performance in demanding titles.
In TechSpot's independent testing, the RX 9050 8GB averaged 49 FPS at 1080p across ten games, compared with 59 FPS for the RTX 5050 and 86 FPS for the RX 9060 XT 8GB.
These results show that the card can run many games at 1080p, but reaching a consistent 60 FPS in demanding titles may require lower graphics settings or upscaling.
Is the RX 9050 suitable for 1440p?
In the same ten-game test suite, the RX 9050 averaged just 33 FPS at 1440p. Certain memory-intensive games suffered even greater performance problems at higher settings.
This makes 1080p the more practical target. Buyers planning to use a 1440p monitor should compare the cost of faster graphics cards rather than assume upscaling will solve every performance limitation.
Power consumption and cooling
AMD specifies a typical board power of 92W, recommends a minimum 450W power supply and lists one 8-pin PCIe power connector.
TechSpot measured approximately 92W during its testing, alongside low temperatures and fan noise on the sample obtained. However, cooling performance depends on the specific board-partner model, so these measurements should not be treated as guaranteed results for every version.
Ray tracing and upscaling
The RX 9050 supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, AMD FSR technologies and features within AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition.
Upscaling and frame generation can improve perceived smoothness in supported games, but they do not remove the GPU's underlying performance limitations. Demanding ray-traced effects may require substantial compromises to image quality or frame rate.
RX 9050 8GB vs RX 9050 4GB
The two RX 9050 variants share a name but have meaningfully different memory configurations.
The 8GB version provides a 128-bit memory bus and 288GB/s bandwidth. The 4GB model cuts those figures to a 64-bit bus and 144GB/s bandwidth.
The 4GB model is intended for prebuilt OEM systems rather than ordinary standalone retail sales. TechSpot's testing of the 4GB version shows substantial limitations in modern games.
Buyers should always check the exact VRAM capacity, particularly when comparing prebuilt gaming PCs.
Which CPU should you pair with the RX 9050?
The RX 9050 does not require a flagship gaming processor to deliver its intended level of performance. For a budget build, the combined cost of the CPU, motherboard, memory and GPU matters more than choosing the fastest available processor.
Our Ryzen 7 7700X3D review covers a substantially stronger gaming CPU, but pairing it specifically with the RX 9050 may leave too much of the build budget allocated to the processor.
Likewise, the Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus review provides context for another CPU option, although motherboard and memory costs should also be considered.
RX 9050 price and availability
The RX 9050 8GB launched at a reported price of approximately $279, initially targeting selected Asia-Pacific and Latin American markets.
Verified retail prices for Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were not available for this review. Buyers should confirm local warranty coverage, final pricing and VRAM capacity before purchasing.

Quick verdict
The Ryzen 5 7500 is a practical, relatively affordable AM5 six-core CPU for builders who value a basic iGPU and bundled cooling. If a discrete GPU is already in the build, a meaningfully cheaper 7500F may be the better purchase. If the 7600 costs almost the same, it also deserves consideration. We cannot claim a specific FPS advantage for the 7500 without a direct independent test.
