HONOR Magic8 Pro — Price and Full Specifications
out of 10
HONOR has launched its new phone, the HONOR Magic 8 Pro, to compete strongly in the flagship class. It runs Qualcomm's powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with an excellent triple camera system — a 50 MP main lens, a 200 MP telephoto and a 50 MP ultrawide — plus a 50 MP front camera and a large 7100 mAh battery with 100W fast charging.
In this article from Qayimli we go through the HONOR Magic 8 Pro's full specifications and weigh up its main strengths and weaknesses, to help you decide whether it deserves your money.
What stands out about the HONOR Magic 8 Pro
The display is a flat LTPO OLED with a dual punch-hole, measuring 6.71 inches at 1.5K resolution (1256 × 2808 px) with a very high pixel density of 458 ppi, a variable 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and HDR Vivid support, an excellent 4320Hz PWM dimming rate, HONOR's NanoCrystal Shield protective layer, and a claimed brightness of 6000 nits (actual HBM brightness measures closer to 1800 nits — still very high).
For performance, the phone runs Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, built on a 3nm process with an Adreno 840 GPU — the same chip class as other flagships such as the POCO F8 Ultra and OnePlus 15.
It comes in several memory versions: 256GB or 512GB of storage with 12GB of RAM, up to 1TB with 16GB of RAM at the top — all UFS 4.0, with no memory card expansion.
The camera system is triple: a 50 MP main lens (F/1.6, 1/1.3-inch sensor) with optical stabilisation, a true 200 MP periscope telephoto (Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor at 1/1.4 inch, F/2.6) delivering real optical zoom up to 3.7x and digital zoom up to 100x — also optically stabilised — and a third 50 MP lens for 122-degree ultrawide shots.
The front camera is 50 MP with an additional infrared sensor dedicated to face unlock, which works reliably even in complete darkness.
The phone records 4K video at multiple frame rates up to 120 fps.
The battery is 7100 mAh (per the global version; 6270 mAh in Europe and 7200 mAh in China) with 100W wired fast charging, 80W wireless charging, 5W wired reverse charging and wireless reverse charging support.
On durability, the phone carries strong IP68/IP69/IP69K water and dust ratings (submersion to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes, plus resistance to high-pressure hot water).
The fingerprint sensor is ultrasonic, under the display.
HONOR Magic 8 Pro cons
- No 8K video recording — 4K is the ceiling.
- The rear camera bump protrudes very noticeably.
- The materials (a fibre-reinforced plastic back) are not the most premium next to flagship rivals using glass or titanium.
- The dual punch-hole cutout will not suit everyone, and the display has no anti-reflective coating.
- Resolution is 1.5K rather than QHD+, although the high 458 ppi density partly makes up for it.
- The number of OS updates may vary by market — the company's longer-support promise may apply to some markets only.
HONOR Magic 8 Pro pros
- Distinctive, very strong performance from the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
- HONOR's commitment to many years of OS and security updates.
- An excellent camera experience front and back, with a powerful new 200 MP telephoto lens.
- A large battery that lasts long through the day, with record-fast wired and wireless charging.
- Strong stereo speakers with a dual sound-chamber design for a distinctive audio experience.
- Water and dust resistance at the highest ratings: IP68/IP69/IP69K.
- A true (not virtual) face-recognition sensor that works even in total darkness, plus a very fast ultrasonic fingerprint reader.
- An extra customisable button (AI Magic) for the camera or any other command.
