MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate Chipset Review — Specifications and Benchmarks

MediaTek itself has confirmed in its official documentation that the Helio G100 (the base on which the "Ultimate" version is built) is practically identical to the earlier Helio G99 in both CPU and GPU, with the only tangible change being support for a single 200 MP camera.

In other words: this is not so much a new chip as a G99 with a better camera pipeline.

The "Ultimate" label (and the "Ultra" some companies use) are marketing names applied by MediaTek's various partners (Infinix, Tecno, Xiaomi) to the same base Helio G100 platform, with no documented architectural differences between them.

That transparency matters, so no reader is misled by a name implying an upgrade that does not actually exist.

Performance: a fairly old chip in new clothing

The chip uses the same design as the Helio G99: two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz.

The actual results reflect that relative age: AnTuTu scores range between 375,000 and 429,000 points depending on the device and source, while Geekbench recorded modest results of about 570 single-core and 1,917 multi-core points — figures that place the chip near older parts such as the Dimensity 800 and Dimensity 6300, very weak competition by 2026 standards.

GPU: basic performance for light games only

The chip uses the same Mali-G57 MC2 found in the G99, with no update at all.

Tests show frame rates between 26 and 60 fps depending on the game and settings in titles such as PUBG Mobile, while heavier games such as Genshin Impact need big settings cuts for an acceptable experience.

The fundamental weakness: no 5G

This is the chip's biggest weakness against its 2026 rivals: it is limited entirely to 4G LTE (Cat.13) with theoretical download speeds of no more than 150 Mbps, and no 5G support whatsoever.

At a time when rival chips at roughly the same price (such as the Dimensity 6300 or the Snapdragon 4 Gen series) support 5G, the absence of the feature is a real constraint on the future-proofing of any phone carrying this chip.

Memory and storage: clearly budget specifications

The chip supports LPDDR4X memory (up to 12GB of RAM), but storage is limited to the older eMMC 5.1 standard rather than UFS 3.1 or better — meaning slower app launches and file transfers than newer rivals.

Short-range wireless is limited to Bluetooth 5.2 (not 5.4, as sometimes assumed).

Camera: the only real improvement

The single tangible addition over the Helio G99 is support for one camera at up to 200 MP, alongside 16+16 MP dual capture and 32 MP video recording at 30 fps, with display support up to 120Hz at Full HD+.

Verdict

The Helio G100 Ultimate is, at its core, a repackaged Helio G99 with stronger camera support and a new marketing name — not a chip that earns the "Ultimate" title on actual performance.

The missing 5G and the slow UFS 2.2-class storage make it suitable only for very tight budgets, for buyers content to stay on 4G for a long time to come.

For anyone wanting longer future-proofing, alternatives such as the Dimensity 6300 remain the more sensible choice despite the small price difference.
