Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Chipset Review — Specifications and Benchmarks
out of 10
Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is an entry-level 5G chipset that Qualcomm launched in May 2026, with the primary focus on improving graphics performance more than the central processor.
CPU
The chip carries the same core layout used in the previous 4 Gen 4 generation: two Cortex-A78 performance cores plus six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, with just a minor 100MHz bump to the prime core, reaching up to 2.4GHz. The chip is built on a 4nm process, and the gap in CPU performance over the previous generation doesn't exceed 5% in single-core and around 2% in multi-core tests.
GPU
This is where the real transformation happens: the chip uses an entirely new Adreno 629 GPU, which Qualcomm claims is 77% faster than the Adreno 613 used in the previous generation. This improvement enables 90FPS gaming support for the first time in the Snapdragon 4 series, up from the previous 60FPS cap.
Uses and Performance
The official AnTuTu score hasn't leaked yet, but estimates based on the chip's architecture point to an expected total around 480,000 to 520,000 points, thanks to the large jump in graphics performance.
✅ Pros
- +New Adreno 629 GPU 77% faster in graphics.
- +First Snapdragon 4-series chip supporting 90FPS gaming.
- +5G network support at a budget price point.
❌ Cons
- −CPU improvement under 5% versus the previous generation despite the "Gen 5" naming.
- −No official AnTuTu results published yet, real-world performance may vary by device.
