Not everyone who wants to join the Blackwell family needs to spend thousands. The RTX 5060 is the official entry point at a $299 launch price. The card targets 1080p gamers first and foremost, but it carries the same debate that shadowed its predecessor: is 8GB of memory really enough in 2026?
A Closer Look at the Features
The Compact GB206 Die
The RTX 5060 is built on the smallest die in the family, GB206, with 30 streaming multiprocessors enabled for 3,840 CUDA cores and 120 fifth-generation Tensor cores, alongside fourth-generation RT cores. That is a 25% core-count increase over the RTX 4060 — a reasonable improvement for an entry-level card, even as the gap to the higher tiers in the lineup remains wide.
8GB of GDDR7 on a 128-bit Bus
The card gets 8GB of GDDR7 at 28 Gbps on a 128-bit bus, delivering 448 GB/s of bandwidth — a 65% increase over the RTX 4060. That bandwidth jump noticeably improves performance even though total capacity stays at the same level as the previous generation, which is the point most critics focus on when discussing how future-proof the card really is.
Excellent 1080p, Limited 1440p Headroom
Per NVIDIA's own benchmarks, the card delivers very high 1080p frame rates in popular titles like Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk 2077, and Marvel Rivals with DLSS 4 and 4x Frame Generation enabled. At 1440p, performance remains solid in many games with DLSS upscaling active, but the limited memory capacity can become a bottleneck in heavier titles at maxed-out texture settings.
Exceptional Power Efficiency
Total power draw is just 150W, among the lowest in the entire lineup, making it well suited for dropping into older systems without needing a PSU upgrade in most cases. There is no Founders Edition of this card — the whole lineup consists of partner cards from ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, ZOTAC, and others.

Qayim Li Verdict
The RTX 5060 is a very sensible choice for anyone building a budget-focused 1080p rig who wants access to NVIDIA's latest features like DLSS 4. However, the memory capacity staying fixed at 8GB makes it a less convincing pick for long-term use or regular 1440p gaming — in that case, the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti variant is worth considering despite the price difference.
✅ Pros
- +The best entry point into the Blackwell family and DLSS 4
- +Exceptional power efficiency at just 150W
- +65% increase in memory bandwidth over the RTX 4060
- +Strong 1080p performance and decent 1440p capability with DLSS
- +Reasonable pricing relative to the rest of the lineup
❌ Cons
- −8GB of VRAM has been static for several generations and may limit future performance
- −128-bit memory bus caps bandwidth compared to higher tiers
- −The underlying traditional-performance gain over the RTX 4060 is limited without DLSS
- −No Founders Edition — fully reliant on partner-card models
