Samsung has launched its new phone, the Samsung Galaxy A27, to compete in the mid-range — and it finally retires the old display design in this class in favour of a Super AMOLED panel with a small punch-hole and a 120Hz refresh rate. It runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 instead of the usual Exynos chips, backed by Samsung's excellent update policy and a main rear camera with optical stabilisation — but with a fairly modest 5000 mAh battery and just 25W fast charging.

What stands out about the Samsung Galaxy A27

The display is a flat punch-hole Super AMOLED (the new Infinity-O design replacing the previous generation's notch), measuring 6.7 inches at FHD+ (1080 × 2340 px) with 385 ppi, a 120Hz refresh rate and brightness of up to 800 nits (HBM) or 1400 nits peak, with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protecting both the front and the back.

Despite the improvements, the bezels are still fairly thick next to rivals at the same price — especially the chin.

For performance, the phone runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, built on a 4nm process with an Adreno 710 GPU — the same chip as the Samsung Galaxy A36 — delivering about 7% better CPU and 8% better GPU performance than the Exynos 1380 of the previous Galaxy A26.

It comes in several memory versions: 6 or 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, expandable via a memory card that shares the second SIM slot.

The rear camera is triple: a 50 MP main lens (F/1.8) with optical stabilisation and 4K video support, a 5 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro lens. The front camera is 12 MP.

The battery is 5000 mAh with just 25W fast charging — fairly modest speed next to rivals in the class.

On durability, the phone carries an IP64 rating against dust and splashes only (no submersion) — actually a step down from the IP67 rating of the previous Galaxy A26.

The phone ships with One UI 8.5 built on Android 16, with Samsung committing to six generations of OS updates and six years of security updates — among the longest support windows on the market.

It also carries a set of new AI features such as the Google-developed Circle to Search, object eraser for photos, and voice transcription in 22 languages, with a choice between the Gemini and Perplexity assistants.

The phone launched officially in Egypt at around EGP 16,900 for the 128GB / 8GB RAM version, with the 256GB version rising to about EGP 19,700 (local warranty).
