Xiaomi has launched its new flagship, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, to compete hard at the top of the flagship class — a giant 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display, Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and a total focus on photography in partnership with Germany's Leica through a dedicated 200 MP telephoto lens with a variable aperture and variable focal length, plus a 6000 mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.

What stands out about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra

The display is a flat punch-hole LTPO AMOLED measuring 6.9 inches — the largest in the history of Xiaomi's Ultra series so far — at 1200 × 2608 px with 416 ppi, a variable 1–120Hz refresh rate for power savings, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support, very high brightness up to 3500 nits, and Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 protection.

Note that the resolution sits below the QHD+ level some rival flagships use, despite the large size.

For performance, the phone runs Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, built on a 3nm process with an Adreno 840 GPU — the same chip class as other flagships such as the HONOR Magic 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra — giving it exceptional performance.

Even so, the phone heats up noticeably under sustained load, especially in long sessions of demanding games, despite the upgraded Xiaomi 3D IceLoop cooling system.

It pairs with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, with no memory card expansion.

The camera system is the phone's headline feature, in full partnership with Leica: a 50 MP main lens (large one-inch sensor, F/1.7) with optical stabilisation, and a unique 200 MP periscope telephoto (Samsung ISOCELL HPE sensor at 1/1.4 inch) with a variable F/2.4–3.0 aperture and a variable focal length between 75 and 100mm equivalent (continuous optical zoom from 3.2x to 4.3x) — responsible for the best portrait experience in Xiaomi's series so far, also optically stabilised.

The set is completed by a third 50 MP ultrawide lens (F/2.2) with a 3D TOF sensor for better subject separation and portraits. The front camera is 50 MP.

The phone records 8K video at 30 fps, and up to 4K at 120 fps from both the main and telephoto lenses.

The phone launched officially in Egypt in the 512GB / 16GB RAM version at around EGP 95,000 (local warranty), with a pre-order offer that included a Xiaomi electric scooter worth roughly EGP 24,000.
