Before getting into the details, we owe the reader some honesty: the "Dimensity 6400 Turbo" is not a new standalone chip with a different architecture. It is the same MediaTek Dimensity 6400 the company officially launched in February 2025, under an exclusive marketing rebrand used by Realme for its Realme 16 (announced in January 2026).
There is no official page for this name on MediaTek's own site, and no documented technical difference in clocks or architecture from the original. That transparency matters to us at Qayimli: there is no reason to inflate the "Turbo" name as if it were a genuine upgrade.
Performance: budget-class efficiency with no false claims
The chip uses a dual-cluster, eight-core design: two Cortex-A76 cores at up to 2.5 GHz for higher-demand tasks, and six power-saving Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz for light work.
The design is not actually new — it is a direct continuation of the Dimensity 6300/6100+ family with a small clock bump of no more than about 100 MHz in practice.
Real-world benchmark results: roughly 544,000–604,000 points in AnTuTu 10 (varying with the device and accompanying memory), about 764–803 in single-core Geekbench 6 and 1,978–2,159 in multi-core.
Acceptable numbers for everyday use, but no match for true mid-range chips such as the Dimensity 7400 or Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, which lead with a newer 4nm process and up to 29% stronger graphics.
GPU: the chip's weakest point
The chip carries a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU — the same unit as the previous two generations (Dimensity 6300 and 6100+), with no real progress. That means modest performance in demanding games such as Genshin Impact, while light titles such as Subway Surfers or Free Fire run reasonably smoothly at up to 60 fps on low settings.
In short: this is a chip for everyday use, not for serious gamers, however exciting the marketing name.
Memory and storage: openly budget-class specifications
The chip supports LPDDR4X memory only (not the LPDDR5 of higher tiers) with UFS 2.2 storage.
That combination places it squarely in the budget and lower mid-range bracket, where real-world app-launch and file-transfer speeds will be noticeably slower than phones carrying LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 or better.
Connectivity: the one genuine strength
The chip supports Sub-6 5G with theoretical download speeds up to 3.3 Gbps, dual 5G SIM support and dual VoNR.
On Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the chip itself officially supports Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 only — although some phones such as the Realme 16 add Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3–5.4 at device level through separate external modules, something worth spelling out so the credit does not go to the chip itself.
Verdict
The Dimensity 6400 Turbo, despite the exciting name, is simply the familiar Dimensity 6400 in new Realme-exclusive marketing dress. It delivers acceptable performance for ordinary everyday use — browsing, social media, camera, light tasks — with good 5G connectivity, but it remains entirely removed from any ambition of heavy gaming or advanced performance.
Buying on the strength of the "Turbo" name alone is a common mistake worth avoiding; a phone's real value lies in the overall balance of battery, display and price — not in the chip's name.
